Female, Born | in Montville, New London County, Connecticut on 6/10/1764 |
Died | 9/23/1839 |
Born at Montville, New London County, Connecticut, on June 10, 1764, of Jeremiah ROSS and Ann (PAINE) ROSS. She was one of ten children.
Elizabeth was only ten years old when she moved with her family to the wilderness of the Wyoming Valley in Pennsylvania. She was but thirteen when her father died. Consequently, she suffered tremendously during those pioneer years. For a description of conditions and circumstances of those times, refer to her father's account and that of her brother, Perrin.
She, too, fled the Wyoming Valley at the time of the massacre, where two of her three brothers were killed on July 3, 1778.
Elizabeth married John GORE, who was born February 25, 1764, and died August 4, 1837. John was the son of Captain Obadiah GORE (born July 26, 1714; died January 10, 1779) and Hannah (PARK) GORE (born 1721; died August 14, 1804).
Elizabeth died September 23, 1839.
