Born January 6, 1759, in Scotland Parish, Windham County, Connecticut, of Jeremiah ROSS and Ann (PAINE) ROSS. He was one of ten children.
Jeremiah's life was patterned largely after that of his older brother, Perrin. They served together during the Revolutionary War, Jeremiah as a Private, his brother as a Lieutenant; and they died together in the Battle of Wyoming on July 3, 1778. The lengthy account given his brother Perrin provides substantially an account of Jeremiah's heroic and patriotic, but short, life.
He was not married and had no children.
