Born, June 11, 1915 on the family homestead located on Johnson Creek northwest of Buffalo, Wyoming, of Frank SCHRATER and Lucina (MILLION) SCHRATER. She had brothers Robert and Tolbert (“Tuck”), and a sister Lucina Million.
Frances grew up on the family homestead and attended Johnson Creek School, and she graduated from Johnson County High School in 1933. After high school she drove a school bus for three years.
On August 16, 1936, Frances married William Woodson (“Woody”) MAHONEY in Buffalo, Wyoming. The couple had a daughter, Betty Mae; and four sons, Duane, Robert, Bryan, and Chad.
Frances worked for many years at the Table Supply IGA grocery store, and later at the Buffalo Grocery. She spent many years working for the Wyoming Crippled Children’s Society.
She was a charter member of the Grace Fellowship Church and later a member of the Assembly of God Church, where she was very active. She was an avid fisherman and enjoyed riding horses.
Frances died October 5, 2006, in Buffalo, Wyoming, and is buried in Willow Grove Cemetery.
