Born September 12, 1921 , on the family homestead located on Johnson Creek northwest of Buffalo, Wyoming, of Frank Rae SCHRATER and Lucina (MILLION) SCHRATER. She had brothers Robert and Tolbert ("Tuck"), and a sister Frances Mae.
About 1940, Lucina ("Aunt Billie") married William Bryan ROSS ("Uncle Bill"), who brought with him sons William George ROSS and Bernard Wilbur ROSS from a previous marriage. Uncle Bill and Aunt Billie had 3 more children: Phyllis Marie, Gary Lee, and Dianne Louise. About 1957, they adopted another daughter, Frances M. GARRO.
Aunt Billie was the ultimate Christian woman. An extremely outgoing and plain-spoken person, Aunt Billie was the one to count on when your family needed help. She was a devout and prominent member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and she lived her religion. She loved me like a son, and her influence made an immense impact on my life.
Aunt Billie died February 15, 2002, in Portland, Oregon, from complications following surgery. She is buried beside her husband in Willow Grove Cemetery, Buffalo, Wyoming.
