Born either in Susquehanna or Bradford County, Pennsylvania, of Jesse ROSS and Elizabeth (HANCOCK) ROSS. She was one of at least eight children, and was probably born around 1795.
In 1809, in Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, she married Edward L. PAINE, and they later moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Her husband was a merchant, and operated a store in Brooklyn in May 1823.
