Born in Scotland Parish, Windham County, Connecticut, on either January 5 or February 1, 1747, of Jeremiah ROSS and Ann (PAINE) ROSS. She had brothers Perrin, Jeremiah, and William; and sisters Aleph, Sarah, Diana, Mary, Lucy, and Elizabeth.

Ann accompanied the family when they moved to Montville, New London County, Connecticut. Then, in early 1774, they moved to the Wyoming Valley, Pennsylvania. She was a sister of Perrin and Jeremiah ROSS, who were both killed in the Battle of Wyoming. Ann escaped from the valley before the massacre with other members of the family.

The remainder of the family, except her sister Sarah and her mother, returned to the Wyoming Valley under escort of Captain Spaulding's Company, and settled in the Wilkes-Barre Fort during August 1778.

There is no record of Ann having been married or of any children born to her.
